So, on my long drive to work this morning I have come across a grand idea. I'm calling out all you other producers to compete in a timed challenge to improve and put your production skills to the test. Obviously this is probably something a very skilled producer can do already, so I'd ask to keep it to us less experienced people.

The rules will be simple.

-You have 48 hours to complete a BRAND NEW track, completely from scratch. You cannot use something that you've already started working on; you have to start from square one. In cheating against this rule, you are only cheating yourself as the ultimate purpose of this challenge is to improve your production skills.

-Any genre you are comfortable with. The grading guidelines below are based to be non-subjective (So a house fan can grade somebody who's made a Trap track)

-You will be graded on three main components; Sound Design, Composition/Arrangement, and Sound Quality ... For however we end up deciding the judging process to go, whether it be voting or people selected to vote, these will be the guidelines. These are three major components of any track, so you can't just have a dope loop sounding good, because otherwise you would fail in composition and arrangement

-Any samples/packs/DAW/Plugins etc are allowed. Do whatever you need to do to complete the task. However; remember again that this is for your benefit. Using a bunch of premade stuff when that isn't what you normally use is only cheating yourself. Use your normal methods, but as fast as you can!!

-Tracks are expected to be of high quality, so you must mix and master your tracks to the best of your ability to give it that last minute polish.

So those are the basic rules. I don't know how it will be judged, when we should do this, how many people etc etc., so any ideas would be great! And if it comes down to selecting a few judges who give a 1st, 2nd, 3rd best out of multiple producers I think some of you very experienced DJ's/Producers would be of great benefit to give an unbiased opinion. If voting, this wouldn't be so much of an issue. Obviously I'd like to participate this round, so I open it up to others for more ideas to make this to happen.

Again, this is meant to be a challenge for yourself to improve your production skills. I had the chance to talk to an up and coming big name producer and he told me that one thing he did for himself to improve was a 7 day, 7 track challenge to improve his speed. So here's your chance. The prize? Bragging rights and further perfection of your craft! Initially I thought this to be a 24 hour challenge, but I increased it to 48 to accommodate real life things like children, and jobs.
