I love how Weeds started with Little Boxes as their theme song, accompanied by a nice video showing the clone nature of subdivision workadays. That first season, the song was performed by Malvina Reynolds who wrote the song in 1962.
After that first season, they had many others perform the song during the opening credits including Elvis Costello, Death Cab for Cutie, Randy Newman and as shown below, Pete Seeger, who hit #70 in the Billboard Hot 100 in 1963 and was the only to get onto that list with it. He was a friend of Malvin's and passed away this last week so I felt it appropriate to highlight his version even though I love how each artist makes it their own.
