Numark DXM06 - fader crapping out

man, the fader craps out too quick on these... I've had the mixer for 3 months, it has been replaced once already and now it's starting to bleed again, doing automatic and very random crabs

the dj store dude tells me there's a better fader available for AUD $99... that should be approx USD $75 ish... anyone got them?

iono but i've had my mixer since i've been on these forums and mine is still intact. i can tell u though that u will outgrow the dxm06 as your scratching gets better becuase the dtype fader isnt as sharp as u need it for different scratches as i've noticed.

Haha, me and Mello have had this conversation way back. I had one to, and the fader did the exact same thing to me, only after about 3 or 4 weeks of use.

I think Mello lucked out! He got the wednesday model, we all bought the mondays...

Don't any of you ever use the search function? Conair hairclipper oil (possibly other brands, but for sure this one) and some canned air will solve your fader problems. On the analog faders it improves them considerably; on the digital ones it will totally fix the issue. Just be careful how you apply it into the strips. Remember who told you this and spread it around.

There's nothing wrong with their digital faders and they're not going to die on you. They just need to be lubed. If you did that, they wouldn't be crapping out. All faders need to be kept cleaned and lubed and Numark's are no different. The only significant deficiency in the D-type over other digital control faders is that the knob is lite. I highly doubt the new polymer pro fader is going to be a big improvement over the D (lubed of course), unless the knob is just heavier. You could probably just add some putty or lead and get the same effect. We're still talking digital faders. The digital control fader itself has nothing to do with the reponse (unlike some digital addon faders for analog mixers)...that's the mixer's characteristics. All these faders do is tell the mixer's DSP where the fader is positioned. $75 is a lot of money to be buying something that simply has a heavier knob and/or different contacts inside. If you want better response (again, reliability is a nonissue), you really need to go analog like Rane or Vestax, by the way whose faders require at least as much care as Numark's...though for the record their designs make doing so far easier.

thanks for that info man I will definitely do a search for your previous posts in regards to lubing x-faders... I'll leave the two unlubed until the new fader starts playing up again, then I'll go back to the d-type fader and lube that. rep point for u

When i spotted this topic title, I already knew what's you problem.

DMX series mixers have good faders, the only problem is that they are fitted in a very lousy way.

Open it up, and you'll see what i mean. It's not firmly screwed to the housing, it's just lightly fitted to a plate. If you're a little rough on it, i'll snap lose.

Just glue it to your case, or back to the points were it should be, and i'll be good again.

I couldn't hear the differance between the normal and the pro fader. (except on the DMX 09)

Want to get rough with your fader? Take a Vestax Samurai. You can stand on the faders, and they won't budge.

I don't know about all that is being said......I have a DXM06 and my crossfader bleeds when it is closed and I put some pressure on it.

I was first told by the guy that sold it to me that all I had to do was come in and he would clean the contacts as it is a digital fader...and as someone has said, the digital contacts are what tell the mixer where the CF is.....HOWEVER

I went in when he was not there to have it looked at and I was helped by the tech guys at the shop. The told me that it is not a digital fader.....the D-type and they cleaned it with some contact cleaner and lubed it and there is no difference...still bleeds. I am going to go back and talk to the guy who sold it to me once more as I still have one month left on the warranty.

Question to be resolved though.....does this mixer have a digital fader or not? If so....shouldn't it never crap out Reticuli suggests? Someone please through me a clue

I hates, I hates, I hates ma mixa That is my new anthem....I hope you all enjoy it.

ARRRGGGGHHHHHH....

Then if it is the case that the faders are digital, why the hell would it crap out on me? My Cf only bleeds when I have pressure on it (ex. fader all the way to the left so channel 2 would be closed....but I am putting a little bit of pressure on the cf, pushing it to the left) and the sound will cut in and out from channel 2....but as you can imagine this is a royal pain in the ass when I am trying to master different scrates and what not.

Do I actually need to take apart the Cf and clean the supposed contacts? When I had it cleaned for me they took off the casing and disconnected the fader and put in some contact cleaner and lube like I said and the problem still remains????
