DRM not Serato Friendly. Rane should fix this.

DRM - Digital Rights Management

I have Some DRM music files and I just found out that Serato doesnt play music with DRM, Anybody knows of a program that removes this? or better yet is there any updates that Rane is making for this?

i take it you have no grasp of what DRM is meant to do or why Rane can never and will never make serato DRM friendly.

I'm not exactly sure what a DRM file is either.
Is it something attached to a song to limit its functions or something?

Because i skimmed through wikipedia and came up with that.

Oh God....

It isn't Serato's fault, blame DRM and yourself for buying any music with it.

Yeah, smething like that. Like it will only let you play it on certain player, like Windows Media Player.

ive downloaded a couple songs on teh itunes store (pretty sure they were DRM - i didnt go to the itunes plus store) and they play fine on serato. i just told serato to read my itunes library. is serato reading your library or are you trying ot import the track from else where. maybe that is messing with it? really not sure though

I buy all my own music as well. High quality, DRM-free wav files.

PS. Ripping a 'friends' CD is illegal too and basically the same as downloading off the net. Hell chances are you'll get a better quality scene release since all those guys do is rip music and know how to tag / encode proper.

if you rip a cd, it wont have DRM. if you copied the mp3s he bought, it will. if you are ripping your friends cds you are still stealing.

I'd say burn them to a CD if there is a means to do that, like how you can do that with purchased music from iTunes....then rip the CD to DRM-free MP3s.

I don't recommend stealing, but if you bought music legally and need to remove the DRM, there you go.
