Question Drum Loops

Just a quick question on drum loops.

Are drum loops a commonly used thing? Do professionals use drum loops in their tracks? I feel like using them is almost cheating, or at least not as good for learning. Am I just wrong or what?

So, as a beginner/learner, are drum loops something you would recommend using?

Good to know - thanks.

I guess I mean compared to programming the drums myself. I don't have the capability to do live drums

i guess its cool to use em, I just about never do though. I like having lots of percussion in my beats so i usually just make my own. Most of my songs have 10-15 different percussion samples in em haha

^Hell, have you ever heard of HipHop/BreakBeat Loops? HipHop was started on prerecorded drum/break loops! Many people use them, including some of the professionals and big time commercial music artists.

And yeah, I use them as well, but not that much. When I started out producing/beatmaking, I used them heavily, but I found out that you can't manipulate them as you could if you created your own with a DAW.

And you can check my sig for free loops I make for people to use in their projects!

drum nd bass was a better example, as the drum break is pretty much the same throughout the genre.

and while it is true that you get better controll over your drums if you peice it together, you get a different sound to using looped breaks. basically, it depends on the kind of sound or feel you wanna go for

You'll be happier using your own beat loops.
It's harder to find a loop you want rather than just making the one you have in mind.
