does anyone produce on workstations anymore?

so with the advent of cheaper and cheaper computer production capabilities, do any of you produce using a keyboard anymore? Personally a lot of the software doesnt really work for me so i use a hard disk recorder roland vs2000 and a few keyboards as well as mics for drums and guitar..but my way seems to be the dying way?

I'll use my hardware sometimes still. It's still useful to me, but I find software more convenient and sometimes better quality for things like piano anymore.

Not really for me, unless you count a MIDI controller as hardware.

Not that Hareware is a problem, but it's more of a financial thing in my case. Maybe when some money start coming in then I'll use more hardware.

I use my MC-505 and my ESQ-1 from time to time to make a track

This one's called Without my 505. I was over at my cousin's and his boyfriend's place when I saw their 505 sitting under some stuff. I tried it about two years back, but was really intimidated by it and didn't get anything done, but I thought I'd give it another shot. About two hours later, I made a track! I didn't know much about the 505 then, including the song mode, so this entire track was made with nothing but a single repeating pattern being constantly tweaked, transposed, muted, etc. ... it's a live recording. Later that month, I bought one for myself

I think most use software because they already have computers rather than a workstation/hard disk recorder. Akai MPCs are still alive and kickin' for hip hoppers.

Plain drum machines are dying out.
I guess thats why their prices have dropped.
