    Trap Music???

I've been seeing more and more tunes on Soundcloud with the tag "Trap Music". I've done some digging and it appears to be electronic music producers' take on Dirty Southern Hip Hop.

Though I could be wrong. Either way, I like it. It's quite refreshing and is around the 140 mark, which is good for me.

Hudson Mohawke and Lunice's "TNGHT" project seem to fall under this term.

What say everybody else? Any particular artists I should check out?

and the worst example ever because of hypocrisy:

There are plenty more, and they don't have to have the words "Trap" in the title, but those are obvious ones.

It's both. Rap Trap music will still do it's thing. This will continue on for a while and most likely die out unless someone breathes new life into it.

As I understand it, the term Trap Music comes from "Trap House" (another name for a crack house) and is characterised by the rough southern/gangsta rap style. See also, Waka Flocka.

The bassy/lowfi production styles of Hudmo/Lunice/etc certainly seem to fit nicely with that whole scene, and I can foresee a shitload of cross-pollination in the near future.

Here's another example of the UK/US connection. Darq E Freaker & Danny Brown. (Check out the Starslinger remix too, I play that a lot)

@ Boom Bap. Yeah, the stuff I'm on about is different to what you posted. Except for the music in the Minaj track.

@ Juxtaposer. I've noticed a lot of commercial producers have been ripping off the likes of Hud Mo & Lunice (to name the obvious). Lunice himself has said in a recent interview with Fact that he and Hud Mo got fed up of big producers biting their shit, hence why they formed TNGHT; they made all the songs on that EP with the intention of taking them to big name commercial rappers.

I've been on to Darq E Freaker for ages. Big time Grime producer. But yeah, there's a lot of producers now who are mish mashing everything together and it's really good I think.

Waka Flocka is so shit in my opinion. Just another commercial rapper chatting bubbles. However, the Lex Luger beats he uses are well nice.

Waka Flocka knows he's not that great of a rapper. He just makes fun music.
