Okay so it looks like I'm going to have to buy a new cart than.

What do you guys think about the Numark CX-1 & the Shure M44-7?

Like I said above I want a cart that's already attached to the headshell & is good for scratching.

That one does not come with a headshell, you want the Shure M44-7H.

Okay, so now it does not slide at all.

The way it's skipping like that,, do I need to get a new needle?

Would it not skip if I bought a new cart?

If I do have to buy a new one, I'm leaning toward the Numark CX-1.

I'm not an expert or anything, but it seems pretty good to me.

    Anybody else use the CX-1?

The counterweight looks like it's on backwards, the numbers should be facing you.

Step 1. Place the counterweight on correctly.
Step 2. Lift the tonearm and then adjust the counterweight until the tonearm floats level.
Step 3. Turn the dial with the numbers to 0(not the entire counterweight)and then turn it until it reads between 1.5-3.0(you will have to find the sweet spot)

    I recommend these carts

1.5 grams sounds too light for scratching in my opinion. Myself personally, I'd set it somewhere between 2.5 grams & 3.5 grams.

99% of scratch dj's run there weight backwards. I been doing it for 20 years.

Looks like he needs to push the weight foward to put weight on the needle.

And if it Still makes the sound replace the needle cause the tip is gone.

True, but I've never had a problem with skipping when the cart was set up properly, but I'm also light handed

just adjust the weight till it doesnt skip, if it sounds like poop, clean the record, if it still sounds bad, get a new styli (may be cheapest route) for the cart u have.

but....the shures mounted on the headshell are killer, its what i use.
