People should really look at used Macs. I got my Macbook Pro 2010 model 15" for $800. Perfect condition.

I owned it for over 2 years and it didn't crash once, so from my experience I would have to say "no".

Whatever is the most expensive. If you want too pay 1k extra for the OS get the one that will last the longest....

I still think microsoft > apple. Espesialy if you look at the prices and the fact that microsoft can play all games and editing software and stuff.
I see your macbook is around 1700dollars(1350euros so i gues) with the midi controller its 100dollars.
With that budget you could get a sick controller. VCI-400/Traktor s4 they are around 800dollars that leaves you 1000dollars for a laptop you could get one with better specs.

And lets say you still go for a second hand for 800, you could get that setup too!
Even get some extra things like a traktor F1 or X1.

And then using serato with only technics, dicers, and once in a while an x1, I still was never confident that it wouldn't fuck up.

Got a mac and literally have never had a problem ever.
Same situation here. I had what i thought was a Samsung MBP killer which looked good on paper but had glitches with VDJ Pro and Serato. I probably could of disabled everything and troubleshoot it even more, but my confidence in its stability was low and I got tired of exhausting energy on hardware issues instead of focusing on music. I switched to a MacBook then a MacBook Pro and haven't had a single in set crash. I run an SL3, dicers, and 1200's. I was fortunate enough to afford a Mac. Plus it integrated well with my other Apple products. PC wise I hear great things about Asus.

I use VDJ and Traktor pro, on my ASUS with a I5 core 2.3Ghz 4gigs or ram. I never had a problem ever!
So i also think buying a macbook with those specs would be a overkill.
I mean why buy a 1350euro laptop for something a 550euro laptop can do...

DJ JR, if you want to get a mac then get a mac. Obviously you wont regret it. If that is what you want then don't let us talk you out of it because chances are you will just wish you got what you really wanted. Yeah there are some good points to saving money and getting a better controler but in reality you gotta do what is gonna make you happy otherwise you are just gonna look back and think "wow I really wanted that mac"

Don't get me wrong, Im not selling macs here, personally I use a Dell XPS M140. its actually kinda old now. But I've never had problems using Serato. I dont think that my computer ever gave me any problems anyway and I do prefer Dell over mac but thats just me. all I am saying is you gotta remember that you don't want to regret a purchase. Espicially a computer. SO if your heart is set on a Mac I would go that route.
