Thread: Useful software for digital DJing (and music in general) - Windows & OS X

Cover Art - Trainspotter (free) for Traktor/iTunes users

Great utility for searching beatport/discogs/google for album cover art to insert into mp3tag info. iTunes portion of the software requires a small donation for use but the Traktor Pro integration is 100% free

free alternative to: mix in key = rapid evolution

Some may not like the GUI and set up, but its free.

@ present, I use a combo of rapid evolution, mp3tag and web searches, before importing into denon music manager for keys, tags, BPM detect etc. I then will organise my tracks on external hard drives, for my players.

As with any key software results may not be 100% correct and its a matter of time, effort (and searching) to try and get fair results.

    Some more OSX goodies:

    Ardour - A fairly full-featured DAW that's free

JackOSX - A plugin system that routes audio and MIDI between apps (similar to ReWire)

    For Windows and OSX:

VLC player - A multifunction video player capable of broadcasting streaming video/audio content, and extracting audio from digital video

Here are some of my tools. All are open source and cross-platform:

    Mp3 tagging tool: Musicbrainz Picard

"When tagging files, Picard uses an album-oriented approach. This approach allows it to utilize the MusicBrainz data as effectively as possible and correctly tag your music."
    https://musicbrainz.org/doc/MusicBrainz_Picard

    Tons of plugins: https://musicbrainz.org/doc/MusicBrainz_Picard/Plugins

    Added:

Also, the general purpose Swiss Army Knife for media: VLC Media Player

Video: edit your mixes before posting on Youtube, using Avidemux:
