apparently they are... I just get really nervous buying high priced items on Craigslist.

Also, new member here. I am hoping to specialize in Japanese hip hop, but really have no idea where to begin in terms of equipment... I scoured the internet but opinions vary so significantly that I still find myself totally confused as to whether to pick CDJ or a regular vinyl deck... All I want to do is mix tracks and share good music with the world. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Anyway, sorry to get sidetracked.

I mean brand new, never opened with a manufacturer's warranty - not a re-purchase from an individual.
Everybody is going to have an opinion.
Just do your thing to the best of your ability and have fun with it.

I was looking at CDJ-200's and a Xone:32, but after reading through this thread I've got my eye on Numark Axis9's and a Denon DN-X120. Shaved $800 off the total price, so I'd have more money to buy tunes with

Nice Pair of DJ headphones; Allen and Heath XONE XD-40. I use these for everyday use as well as practicing my DJ Skillz at home and at smaller gigs. Nice treble and mid balance as well as acceptable low range sound. You can buy now on amazon or ebay between 49.99 and 69.99! Pretty affordable for a DJ gear headphone.

    steppin up (not by much)

right now i own one stanton t62 TT, one kam khd410 usb player, and a gemini ps02 mixer. as well as this i often use an ipod on a phono lead and some how mix that in as well. im looking to do a bit of standardizing of the setup, but with 500 quid theres limited options, one being the stanton scs 4dj, a second being a pair of gemini cdj250s and finally, possibly buying a pair of technics (secondhand).

my problem is, if i buy the stanton, although its all-in-one, i still need to keep a mixer and TT for mixing in vinyl as its built in mixer has no extra inputs.
if i bought the cdjs i would keep both the kam usb and the stanton tt, thus taking up MORE space and looking mssier than when i started
and obviously the downside of using two TTs is that records are very expensive!

so what would you do?? or any better suggestions??

My first DJ Setup was American Audio Pro Scratch... These were my work horse for years... until I went digital! The scratch sounded like shiz but all in all it played the music well and did its job.
