Hi, I am new here as you obviously can see. :p

Like many others here, I like playing with music a lot. Recently I also got into producing. My interest into music has been existing for since I was 15.
I started messing around with fruity loops at the time, but wasn't ready to pay (read: didn't have the money) for a full version.

Since my 18 I started using Virtual DJ, and when i got my first MIDI-controller (Hercules RMX) I changed to Traktor, which is superior in my eyes.
Nowadays, I use a hercules 4-mx with traktor.

I recently (today ) got my sennheiser HD25. I was going to get the technics rp-hd1200 first but based on reviews i got the senn's.
A great replacement for the Pioneer HDJ500, which were a bit of a let-down, and worth the extra money if I can trust the 100's of reviews I've seen. I like the sound and after 5 hours now they aren't getting annoying to wear.

The hercules 4-mx is good enough for me, I got it new for €250 due to a lucky deal.
It's not capable of handling 4 decks, but it's worth the extra money over a RMX. Now I use the 4-mx as 2-decks and rmx as a FX-controller. I have used Pioneers CDJ-2000 with DJM-800, quality stuff for sure! But not worth the arm you have to cut of to pay for them IMO.
A good DJ can make the crowd go wild with any kind of equipment. I have heard DJ's screwing up with €3000+ equipment their rich dad bought them, and people making a decent set using only software like traktor and control it with a laptop keyboard.

Right now I make some small money now and then, turning on private party's, enough to pay for my equipment.
Every week I gain experience, maybe someday I can make this my job but that's just wishful thinking I suppose.

Next week, I am ordering my first keys for producing in ableton (AKAI MPK49) and a cheap usb-mic for vocals (samson meteor).
I was going for the M-audio oxygen 49 but the music-shop-guy advised me their service is crappy and so is the keyboard.
Has anyone got experience with those? Is the mpk49 worth the extra money?

Welcome to the Forum! and your right, it's not what you use, it's how you use it. but some lower end stuff dose sound kind of "hallow" on large PA systems.
