    What's missing from NI controllers?

What are some of the obvious hardware flaws in the S4, Maschine, X1, F1?

If you could design modular controllers like the CMD line, what would they feature and how would they be different from what is already on the market?

I'm starting my own controler company and want your input on where NI went wrong, as well as, where the market is heading.

    Thanks,

    Vincent

Our concept of "self" is merely the transition from the potential energy in our body into the kinetic energy of your actions.

an "awesome bar." i start entering something from which the controller makes suggestions as for the next track to load.

    Here's what I can suggest:

Bigger jog wheels than the S4 have and longer pitch fader like the Pioneer CDJs or Numark NS6/7 have. DJs like me who don't really fancy controllers might just consider them. Because most MIDI controllers have very small jog wheels and pitch faders are too short (especially for those who are used to turntables and CDJs). Also, make the play/cue/forward/reverse/search buttons as tight as the CDJ buttons and located on the left side of the jog wheels while both pitch faders placed on the right side. You may also want to include line/phono inputs so it can also serve as a stand alone mixer and XLR (balanced output) plus booth out.

    This.....!

Make a controller that has a large platter, a long pitch fader, cue and play buttons and some nice lights and dont attach a mixer.

What's missing from all four-deck controllers are dedicated platters for decks 3 and 4. Layer switching isn't really a solution; it's a bandaid.

You can argue that it'd be better to build modular controllers that would allow flexible setups. The challenge, IMHO, is making them cheap and flexible.

    Thank you!

I've got the inexpensive flexibility covered

I have some controllers in the prototyping phase that are so different from anything on the market that I want other companies to be halfway through producing their newest outdated design before I announce mine. I will have a significant technological lead because I'm using brand new ideas coupled with cutting edge technology in new and unexpected ways that stand a significant chance of reshaping entire sectors of the DJ equipment industry.

I will be unveiling this to the public in two or three months. Stay tuned

Technics SLDZ1200 would make a perfect controller. Some of us really want that spinning platter and bomb proof chassis.

How do you feel about having additional memory in controllers? I've been kicking the idea around but I'm not sure. We could have all or part of our collection on flash memory in the controller, waddya think?
