    Need some advice please

Ok so, about 5 months ago I started doing a monthly Radio gig with BamRadio ,online EDM radio station set up in Sydney (Australia). Im based in Perth, so each month I record my set, add in voice overs etc and send it through to Sydney to be aired.

I keep in touch with the head of the station on a regular basis through facebook and email etc. He has just told me that he is planning a live radio tour & has asked me to give him a quote for an hourly rate playing live. He is going to fly me over and cover accommodation, I just have to get him an hourly rate.

I have only had a very small amount of outside of the bedroom gigs, mostly friends parties etc, Im not questioning my ability to play live, its more the fact that I don't have a clue on what to charge as an hourly rate

What do you guys reckon would be a fair call for an hourly rate given that Im not playing in clubs & have little live experience etc, its an awesome break for me and tbh I would prob do it for free just to get my name out there but I dont want to seem desperate at the same time.

Im off to bed now but will check in again first thing tomorrow morning, any advice would be greatly appreciated + rep

That's tough, but don't do it for free... Regular club DJ's around here are getting about $200-500 usd for 4 hours or less.

Yea I was thinking around $50 per hour, which is close to what your saying,

How long will you be playing for?
    Does it matter?

I love how posts that like this, that are actually asking for help get overlooked, yet posts on "lets have a pointless rant about something that no one gives a shit about" ends up 10 pages long Rant over

    Anyone else have any advice?

Maybe people really don't know the answer to your question and it's easier to reply to those other threads...

In the ideal world, you'd be asking for (and getting) at least $75 an hour. That's what the Musicians Union setup as a fair amount of compensation some time ago, exact year escapes me.

Thanks scrizzle, I was just after a rough estimate, I honestly didnt have a clue how much the "normal" rate per hour for a gig is. Thats all I was after +rep

I would say no more than $100 USD for now. $75 may be a good spot to start and build up to $100 if you really take off and impress the promoter- which can lead to longer sets.
