How many of you are also Musicians ?

i read a discussion on another forum where it was insinuated that most DJs are not musicians.... so.. now is your chance to say if thats right or not

please do not get caught up in the question of weather or not any form of live DJing itself such as mashupsl controllerism or scratching qualifies. lets just say for the purpose of arguement that it does not.

im talking about guitars, trumpets, drums, singing.... all that stuff

EDIT: damn, perhaps we should have included remixing as a 4th option .....mods? if you agree can you add that in?

I play a little piano by ear but not on any regular basis. I just some how do it. never got around to learning an instrument. Certain sounds are what perk my interest.

It is too late you already started it
One who composes, conducts, or performs music, especially instrumental music. Is a musician. So based on that definition the word 'musician' is rather general a term. That's why there are specifics like 'guitarist', dummer, violinist and of course. DJ. DJ is short for one who play everything in some way shape or form.

I make my own tunes, a few remixes occasionally. I've also played piano for a bit, but nothing much, as well as guitar for a band that lasted for about 2 years.

Use to be in band in Jr High, Trombone and Trumpet. High School, I tried my hand at Bass Guitar up until Jr Year when I started DJing. Have not played an instrument since unless you count TT's and CDJs as instruments

Proficient at the guitar & trombone. I'm mediocre at best when it comes to the keys, but with a bit of practice I'm able lay down some decent chord progressions when producing.

I've played guitar for about 8 years. When I was around 15, I played in a prog metal band. I'm not as active on the guitar as I used to be though.
