dB Technologies FlexSys F315... Alternative to the JBL PRX635?

I believe this speaker company is based out of the UK. Do any of you guys have experience with this particular model or the F212 model? This speaker looks like a duplicate of the JBL PRX635 except it's more expensive, slightly more weight, doesn't go quite as low but has a larger high compression driver.

The biggest draw of this speaker to me is the weight is manageable, it's a 3-way design and it's pole mountable. In comparison to the JBL and based on the specs, it does 131dB max SPL vs. the PRX635's 135dB max SPL but I take the MI-level speaker manufacturer specs with a grain of salt.

Also, would any of you happen to know where these models are manufactured?

Like all fifteen loaded tops it's far larger, heavier and more expensive than usage as a top justifies, and won't provide the lows that a top/sub rig does. Of course that also applies to the 635.

Like all fifteen loaded tops it's far larger, heavier and more expensive than usage as a top justifies, and won't provide the lows that a top/sub rig does. Of course that also applies to the 635.

I've always wanted a loud but very articulate sounding pair of 3-way tops to go with my passive Danley TH-118 subs (3 of them). I mostly wanted them to be pole mountable. I looked at the JTR Triple 12x's, EV QRX 212/75's (2-ways), JBL PRX635's (good value), JBL VP7315/xx's and Turbosound TQ445DP's (extremely pricey!). Only the Triple 12x's and PRX635's had the pole mount. I got the PRX's but thermal issues caused me to return them so I gave up on the pole mount option and chose the EV's. I find scaffolding usage is a little inconvenient. Even though I have a nice solution to make it stable, nothing beats the convenience of a simple high-quality tripod.

Output, clarity and 'throw' are big factors. The PRX's didn't have major output and definitely no major 'throw' with their wider dispersion... they just sounded good.

Have you ever heard the Electro-Voice X-Array Xi-1122 or Xi-1152/64? They have pole mounts and get rip-your-head-off loud. I've never tried to beat a QRX212 with my 1122s, but I'd wager they would get close - the specs say 5dB, but it'd be interesting to measure (and listen to) that myself.

If you want a lot of output with excellent quality, two Xi-1152/64s per side would be a monster rig. The 1152 specs show it should have 3dB less output than the QRX212, but you get a pole mount and a 60 degree horn, so you could use two a side for wide rooms. The ND6 compression driver is amazing, and the 1152 has an EVX155 low frequency driver. They're bi-amp only, so you'll need a processor - I would recommend the EV DX46 since it has FIR presets, which many processors won't be able to do.

Then you should try and find yourself a pair of used Turbosound TQ445 cabs, they're insanely loud. They can output 131db continuous and that's measured too, no bullsh*t calculated spec, Turbosound measured peaks at the point of signal degredation of 137db. I've heard them before a few times and holy sh*t they're
LOUD.

Their sound quality is absolutely stunning too, trust me, they're best speaker cab i've heard ever heard for the price they go for used, their dispersion is 60x40 degree, and so you can splay them without hearing noticeable comb filtering. Believe it or not, they're what i'm saving up for as we speak to go on top of my SRX728 subs, i'm replacing my Peavey UL215H cabs with the Turbosound cabs, and I tell you what, people at my events won't believe how loud they are when they see them and the size of them (they're not big), and people will be smiling when they hear the amazing sound quality. They absolutely annihilate the Db Technolgies and JBL cabs for spl output and sound quality.

There's zero advantage to using fifteens in tops. Use twelves, three-way if you insist but good two-ways are just as viable. For the pack space of one fifteen loaded top you can have two twelve loaded that will work much better.

DB Technologies is owned by RCF - and generally offers similar (and lower priced) versions/alternatievs to RCF cabinets. You will find many RCF woofers/HF drivers in DB tech products.

Ahhh... good information. THanks guys.

I've always heard that 15" drivers are not the best solution when used as tops only (high-passed). That extra large driver does make a difference if you're running that top full-range and need the extra extension.

@ Richard Stringer... I looked at those Turbosound TQ445DP's. The price is TrULy in$ane!!! I see them for sale and they're always over $3500+ each (USED!!!). Most look to be in pristine condition but I just can't see spending that kind of money for a pair of tops. My clientele and gig frequency just won't justify the expense. Those are dream speakers for me. I'd be in the dog house indefinitely if my fiance were to catch me spending over $7k on a pair of tops, LOL.
