for those of you in the know, would this work (without distortion etc.) on the FX/Aux send return bus?

it ought to. I've used Guitar pedals before and they work quite well with DJ gear. Havent used the one you are talking about but if if has an input and an output it should work just like anything else you can hook up to the send and return.
