    Question????

Hey everyone, I was wondering. If i buy songs from someone who already baught them (i.e. my uncle is a pro dj, if i were to buy his cds off him,or buy his computer with the songs on it) would that be considered stealing? He buys all his songs legally and they are all legit.

Buying the physical CDs is legal; however, the MP3 files, that's where issues of rights management, DRM and the like make it a legally sticky situation. Consult an attorney that is well-versed in Copyright Law prior to proceeding with the transaction, if you are wanting the buy his computer WITH the songs on it...

The way I'd go ahead with it though, is BOTH the physical CDs and the computer with NO MUSIC loaded to it until it's in your possession, and loading the CDs to it, then buying your own downloads. Also make an email inbox folder and filter for the receipts from the services to go to so you can readily pull up a track's receipt whenever needed.

If you were in Canada, you'd be dealing with terms of the AVLA licensing acency, and similar in Europe...

I think if you are buying it off someone like your uncle who was a DJ it might be a little offensive to get a attorney involved and all that. Just seems like you would be going out of your way to make it more difficult for yourself. I could be wrong though,it is just a thought

The only copyright attorney involvement would just be asking them about the legality of buying the preloaded computer. Nada more.
