    Is this rude?

Usually when a dj is done with his mix she lets the last song play out until the end then the next dj comes up. But what I'm wondering is if you're the next one to play, would it be rude to not let the last song play out until the end and instead mix into it, taking your set from there.

I've just noticed this happens a lot and I've never seen a dj just keep the flow going from the last dj's song.

I don't see why it's rude. It makes for seamless transitioning.

Isn't the transition something you coordinate with the other DJ before you just jump into it?

Which I think would be brilliant and show skill on the dj's part?

Not to mention would keep the energy going and the crowd moving.

Well if you just jump in with a "fuck you my turn" attitude, then yeah, it would be rude. Usually when this scenario present (at least in my case) the next DJ talks to me beforehand or something.

Neither is "rude". Their set is over. Start yours.

Never been an issue when I've played. Either before or after people. I get a feel for the crowd and the energy in the DJ's mix before I go on, personally... and it depends on what their last track is and how it's being responded to by the crowd. I rarely let the track play out though or stop it... it's just counterproductive to the whole point of what we're doing imo. It's not about the DJ. It's about the music and the crowd and the collective energy we all share.

    My take anyway.

What I hate is when the next guy up just puts my record wherever the hell he pleases. Especially when I've left the appropriate empty sleeve clearly visible in my crate for him to take 5 seconds and put it away properly.

Back when I would spin house parties and such, me and whoever else was there would work something out. Now it's a little trickier because pure vinyl DJs like myself are a dying breed.

This. I'd let their last tune play out for a bit before mixing it out, rather than jumping straight in
