Where to go after mastering beat matching by ear?

So I can beat match ANYTHING, no problem. My question is, where do I go from here? Scratching? I'd like to learn how to scratch, but I don't know if that's the next logical step from being able to beat match.

Also, as a side question, is it possible to mash up using turntables & loops, or do you need Ableton or something to make mashups?

I do it with turntables and loops but you can do a lot more with ableton or at least a sampler or third deck.

After beatmatching comes creative transitions - meaning something other than fade in / fade out.

^^This. And if you're a hip-hop DJ, definitely learn to scratch.

Can you phrase match? Phrasing is the second most important fundamental skill after beat matching.

    All of the above.

If you mix EDM, practice mixing with the EQs.

Become a mixing fool! Incorporate scratching, phrasing, and creative transitions! Most of all stay on beat!
