Sounds good. Look online for incorporation tips. If you're really strapped for $ there's a few legit online services that process all the incorporation papers, and they're a lot cheaper than an attorney. I guess consider it an option only if attorney fees become a problem

I'm a college kid so money is always an issue, lol. But I'll do whatever I have to in order to get it right. What will the lawyer do for me that I wouldn't be able to do for myself?

An accountant should be able to help you too. IMO, I'd pay to have a professional help you. This way you know you're filed correctly, nothing is missed, and you're all set ready to go. Last thing you need is to find out down the road that you forgot to file some obscure form that you've never heard of, and you get nasty-grams, fees, whatever. Sometimes as a business owner you can cut corners in areas that are not critical to your operations to save money, like 12pt. vs. 14pt. cardstock for flyers....- dealings with government agencies, licensing, taxes etc. are not one of those places.

I'm guessing an accountant would be a little cheaper. I'm gonna do some searching so I can get this started ASAP. I appreciate all of the help. It's hard telling what mess I'd be in with DJF, and not just dealing with this. You guys are great. If anyone has anything else to add, feel free. I'll take all I can get!

they may be cheaper than an attorney if you feel confident w/o direct legal representation.

    Good luck!

Most counties &/or municipalities require every business to have a business licence. Anything after that is normally "at will". However, its for your own benefit. However, again, you always have to pay taxes etc for any income you have.

Maybe someone from PA will clear up any specifics for your state or local laws, rules & regulations.
    1) How should I know... Ask the client!
    2) If you put it where I can see it, I'm gonna look at it. If you don't want me to see it, keep it covered up.

Yes. In most states you can do it as a hobby, but you are still supposed to claim your income on your taxes...

You might not be able to work in all venues as they will require you to be a registered business with insurance.

Thanks for that. I'm still trying to figure out what would work best for my situation. I still have a few years of college left and I'm not sure if it would be worth it to open up a business yet because I don't know how much I'll actually be playing.
