Bought Traktor Scratch Pro 2(rant)

Well good news. I finally got it sorted and have everything running. Kinda. I just need to figure out how to make everything play. I'll be spending the next few days figuring this out.


I will say lesson learned. If I ever sell this or decide to buy SL4 used, I'll make sure everything is sorted before Traktor/SL4 is dropped in the post.

NI's customer service is still garbage. Thank god this was sorted....

Oh and when I was on the phone w/ another NI rep on Friday, I told em about how easy it is to sort this out w/ Serato and she told me flat out "Thats absolute bullshit".

So, in addition to being generally unhelpful and slow, they're either completely uneducated about their competitors or flat-out lie…and are dicks about it too. Nice.

Maschine is the only NI product I currently use, and I could easily see replacing it with the MPC-R if it ever comes out and/or I have the money.

IIRC, NI wants the seller to fax a notice that he/she is selling. Then the buyer is supposed to fax a request to transfer registration. The end to end process should take ~4 days.

You'd think that NI (and everyone) would simply make a webpage to do this.

They have a webpage…that submits an email form. At least, that's how it worked when I sold TP2 a few months ago. It certainly didn't take 4 days, but their sites were very unclear about how to do it. I ended up selling it with it being deauthorized on my computer but not unregistered from my account…and pissed off the buyer a little bit. So, basically the same thing that happened to the OP.

NI doesn't make it easy to deal with anything to do with licenses.

Yeah…a lot of people suck at customer service. I'd say that it's worth avoiding companies with bad customer service in the hopes that only the good ones will stay in business, but I think that'd leave us without a lot of the stuff we need.

I had a similar issue. I bought a second hand s4 and maschine from a store. Neither of them was unregistered and it took them about a month to get everything sorted out :\

shame that you have to put up with such BS. i'll probably switch to traktor (i'm sharing the SL3 at the moment) because it is cheaper than serato and offers more for the kind of music i play...hrrrrr...

I could see myself switching back to TS (from SSL) at some point. But, yeah…I'm not a fan of NI. They just happen to make two products I like that are significantly cheaper than their nearest competitors (Maschine and Traktor Scratch).
