While it's always good to have more sub then top, you went a little lopsided since the 312a are RCF entry level while the 4pro is from their higher end gear. That said I am sure it STILL sounds sweet.... I have looked at the RCF 4Pro 8003-AS as an option in the past & if it wasn't for its' price (a little over $1,800 each) then it would of been a contender in my line up of options.

Anyone using the QSC KW181 with the 312s? The 12 month payment plan from Zzounds is really tempting me to get a system...

That is a good combo from a performance stand point as long as you're fine with the size, weight, price.

Nice. I'd need an external xover right? I don't believe either has one built in.

The QSC HPR 181i has a built in 100hz HPF L/R output that would work fine with the 312a but a full featured dedicated DSP would yield more versatility & performance from the system.

Yeah i know they are a massive overkill for the 312's but the 312's came first, before i had any subs. Whilst looking for subs to match the 312's, i looked and listened to the 7 series RCF subs and whilst cheaper and a good match, the 8003's were available new to me at roughly only £250 more each. (£900 ish each). Once i was demoed the 8003's i had to have them. The air they can move is quite magical The 8003's are more than happy running at half volume.

I can now look at updating the 312's to a higher quality speaker and know my subs are still gonna rock.

If starting from scratch now and I was buying tops and subs at the same time, then no, i wouldn't buy this combo. but hey, they still sound great together, as the 312 is a great budget speaker.

Ah, I was referring to the KW 181, not the HPR.

OK, in that case you're going to require external processing.

I just bought a 4 Pro just to update. Be here in about 10 days.
Pair of Pioneer CDJ-2000 CD Players, Xone:92 Mixer. Pair of RCF-312A Loudspeakers and 1 RCF 4Pro 8003 18" Sub.
