    Songs that work.

I know I saw a video about this on briansredd's YouTube channel and I'm not sure if there's a thread on here about this, but I was wondering what types of songs "work" for you guys. I know there are a few songs that I can play at just about any gig and they're almost always sure to get people moving out on the floor.

A few I can think of are:

Paradise by the Dashboard Light- Meatloaf
    Don't Stop Believin' - Journey
You Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DC

I apologize if there's already a thread like this, but I'm curious to see what types of songs work for you guys.

People love to hear songs they have forgotten about, but loved. Look to the bottom of yearly charts and find songs you don't know..play the samples on amazon or iTunes and when you find one that makes YOU feel like that, that's the song... assuming you're within 20 years of the crowd dancing I would say. Obviously it has to be a danceable song though.

Hey Ya - Outkast (Almost always works for me)

And there are few others like "Let's Groove Tonight" and "Boogie Shoes" which crosses generational gaps and gets the young and old dancing together.

^^Never worked for me. Not to mention I'd rather stab out both eyes than play it.

Lots of different songs work for different people. No set list.

I think this thread is going off track... Let's not confuse people here.

I don't think you can categorize this into songs that work for any gig but for weddings I would say these are my trusty dance floor fillers. My wedding couples are usually in the late 20's to early 30's so the 80's really hit home.

    Love shack
    Cotton eye Joe
    Talk dirty to me
    Mony mony
    Dude looks like a lady
    Old time rock and roll
    Billy Jean
    Shout
Do you love me (now that I can dance)

I am confused, the op asked "I know there are a few songs that I can play at just about any gig and they're almost always sure to get people moving out on the floor."

So... isn't that we are discussing?
