    Opinions on the Numark Mixdeck?

I've watched million reviews and read all about it and I can't seem to figure out whether or not the Mixdeck is worth getting because the Midi controls are a bit shaky for Traktor LE. I'm not opposed to buying TP2 or using VDJ if I really have to but I would like to avoid that for now. What's so attractive is the usb, ipod and CD backups if your laptop fizzles out during a performance. But what sucks is the mixer's absolute non-compatability with anything midi. Any help would be appreciated!

I'm not a huge fan of the mixdeck. It's super cheap feeling and the jogwheels are useless unless used with timecode - which prevents you from using the rest of the MIDI functions.

Kind of defeats the purpose of having a MIDI controller, IMO.

true, but it does play cds and usbs..and it's not a horrible midi controller if you know how to use it. If it were that horrible for midi use, it wouldn't still be out there as a midi controller.

There's plenty of MIDI controllers out there that shouldn't have been manufactured in the first place

It's not horrible, but what is the point in having CDJ sized jogs? You can use them with timecode, but when you do that, you take away all MIDI functionality of the controller. But then you just have a standard, low end analogue setup. If you want to go this route, save up some money and go with the NS7.

I guess it's more flexible, but I'd rather just have two laptops if reliability is the concern.

I had a Mixdeck when they first came out and ran traktor on it with no issues at all. I really liked it because if someone wanted a song played and they had it on a thumb drive or cd I could play it. It does feel cheap but I put mine through some abuse and it never failed. The platters on mine worked really well but could have been better.

Now I am using a Denon MC-6000 which is also a stand alone mixer and wouldn't go back or change my setup. It is the perfect size mixer for me and has more inputs that I can use.

To be honest they're so much better out there for the money. IMO I think look into something else. I'm the kinda person that doesn't usually give out there advice but I think put your interest into another controller. Now if you need help on that let me know.
