    S-DJ08 / S-DJ05 Owners Experience?

Does anyone own or know anyone who owns these studio monitors, im looking at Yamaha HS-50m, Yamaha HS-80m, KRK Rokit 8 G2, and these and wondering if they compare, are better, or are worse. i know that i should really go into my nearest GC or something a give em a listen but these are not anywhere local. a little background, main use will be just DJ-ing in my room, recording mixes, i might delve back into production at a later date but for now just using for DJ-ing. I've heard the Yamaha's are notoriously flat and the KRKs are a little more bass heavy, im sure pioneers will be that way too, i don't mind a little bass but don't want it to over power the mids and highs, but im not a stickler for having absolute flat sound as im not super hardcore into production. really like the look of the pioneer's but im afraid most of the price tag is for looks and branding, so please post up stories/experiences that will prove otherwise or if they really are just glorified pretty speakers. Any help will be appreciated, any suggestions on other studio monitors in the same price range that i might have missed, post em up!

Hey man, I just recently ordered my own monitors. I thought I was set on Rokits, but then was persuaded otherwise. The Pioneers look good but I did not like the fact that you could only use one input at a time - kinda a dealbreaker for me as they will be my main speaker for a few inputs.

I was going to buy a Blue Sky 2.1 EXO2 system - it has amazing reviews, great connectivity, etc. But I ended up buying the new Mackie MR8 MKII models on ebay for a damn good price. I will be getting them soon and I'll let you know. From all the things I've read - which is a lot - I have heard nothing but good things. Ill keep you posted.

Appreciate it! one question, mostly out of curiosity what do you mean its a deal breaker to only use one input at a time, if this is hooked up to a mixer you wouldnt want more than one source going through the speakers, it would sound like garbage, idk maybe im missing something

was thinking the same thing, besides for that the Pioneer accepts multiple inputs & has a input selector on the control module.

I thought the pioneer monitors allowed loads of connections, and they have a control which cycles between them, on the hand volume controller ?

"4 x switchable inputs allow your different connected sources to be switched without touching connections" according to the blurb, or did you mean something else ?

I really liked the Pioneers, I did. But when I saw you could only use a single input at a time, I didnt think it was for me. I plan on using the monitors not only for when I practice/produce in my room, but also as my main listening and reference system. I'll be connecting them to my TV out, my personal computer/mp3, etc and prefer active inputs for all of them. I honestly just read reviews and have not heard them, has anyone here? I have a feeling that theres a reason they havent been as popular as the other entry/mid level monitors - probably high price vs the same quality as the other ones.

From what I've read, a 5 or 6in monitor is more than enough for a bedroom - they are near to mid field monitors anyway. I wanted the extra headroom and bass of an 8in, but the 5-6 will probably have better midrange. For my mixes and for listening pleasure, I dont think the Yamaha's are necessary (as they are brutally honest with music), so that made my decision between the KRKs and Mackies. Comparisons are hard to come by. But I found this video interesting haha.
