You can always submit tracks here, you can also DJ (probably for free but still) on the internet, internet radio, etc. and still have an audience. There's tons of stuff you could do - albeit without an income likely - to keep your skills going while you are finding that next paid gig.

I have a piss poor attitude right now myself because I am stuck in this dead-end accounting job and I'm racing to get something part-time and thrust this event business into full gear; BUT in front of everyone? I'm all smiles. I realize this is DJF so venting is okay, just make sure your poor pitiful me attitude is not seen by others around you in person and those you are trying to network with - nobody wants to work with an old sad sucker. And chill before you scream back... I'm not saying your'e doing this, just saying... don't. lol

Take a collection of your fave tracks EVER... put on the ipod... insert earphones... press play... go running or walk... outside... in the sun. When you're done. Report back. If you don't feel at least 20% better than you did before you did that, then you're doing it wrong. <3

my point is this- i do love music, but if i'm going to mix at home by myself and have 0 people listen to it then i rather not mix at all. i create mixes, i dj, i create mashups and rexmies because i feed off the feedback from other people. if i have a 0 audience, i rather just listen to someone else's sick mix

I know what you mean as I felt the same way. Faderwave Radio helped me get back into spinning. Even if there's just 1 lurker, for whatever reason that motivates in some way to keep playing.

Try it. If not Faderwave, play on your own account and see if you get a few ppl to listen.

another thing, and i know this will sound cocky- i'm not some new beginner dj looking for gigs. i have high expectations for myself (hence prob why i won't do online nor free gigs again). i have djed for several 1000+ pple events, 1 insomniac event, opened for celebs like diddy, drake, trey songz, fareast movement, dev, lmfao, etc etc. i have paid my dues, and if i can't get some "high in demand" gigs then hence my first post i might just have to throw in the towel

realistically, i think i'll keep going until 2013 and see where things are with me then

Honestly man, it sounds like you had a good run, but you're getting humbled now. If you can't embrace that do it for the love of what you're doing, objectively identify your short commings, make changes and move forward, then you should throw in the towel right now, because there's a million DJs out there these days and most of them don't have shit attitudes like you do.

It's good to be critical of yourself, and I understand you've 'paid your dues' but your sense of entitlement and attitude is probably why you're in the position you are in right now.

PS, I put this harshly and it goes for DJing and anything else in life, but I honestly do hope you evolve and succeed in the future.

Even DeadMau5 (not that i'm calling him a DJ ) gets on his Ustream channel and fucks around with sounds while live.

It's not about if you paid your dues, its about doing this because we enjoy it, paid or not.

that is a good question. what happened is i moved across the country...literally. 1600miles away...where i have a fanbase of 0 lol

I think you should quit. Sell your gear as cheaply as possible to someone who will appreciate it. There are too many "DJs" anyway.
