    New Akai MPC model prices

    According to google shopping:

    MPC Renaissance: $1300 USD
    MPC Studio: $600
    MPC Fly: $300

These are street prices found online, so probably similar to GLP level. Proaudiostar and the like would be cheaper, as would some local shops.

Anyone have any coherent thoughts given the prices? Of course, we all need to wait and see what the software is like. It's certainly ugly, but if they hit it out of the ballpark with that, the competition might be legit.

    My thoughts:

Anyone who switched from an MPC to Maschine will probably switch to one of the new ones.

I like the fact that it has 16 knobs instead of 8, but I hate that they don't have scribble strips, and I don't like the layout. One of the things I love about Maschine is the Mackie Control emulation…and you just couldn't get the same functionality out of the Renaissance even for twice the price. That being said, apart from thinking the UI is ugly as sin (read: it looks like the '90s) I like pieces of it a bit better…mostly the fact that it has level meters on the channels and has pro tools/logic style plugin selection instead of looking more like Ableton. But that's a small gripe.

After calming down (and seeing prices) I'm much less excited than I was seeing the first video. But, only time will tell. I certainly won't be an early adopter, though I'd probably buy a Fly in a heartbeat if I ever bought an iPad.

Considering that the Renaissance is on par (price-wise) with the Octatrack and more expensive than the MPC1000…I see myself buying a used black groove box long before a new grey one.

No Roger Linn, no point. However the 12bit MPC60 mode would tempt me.

Hmmm ouch at the MPC Fly, didn't really expect it in that range for some reason. I'd honestly love to get one of those if i already had a iPad as well.

I never understood the hype around their 'mpc60' mode, what would it do that you could not do with any good bitcrusher. Throw some decimort with the mpc60 preset on your drums and bam, mpc60 mode for anything anywhere

Or just push the mode button 'till MPC60 lights up.

    Thread needs pics.

    MPC Rennaissance:

    MPC Studio:

    MPC Fly:

I'm surprised the Fly is so much as well.

And this one, new, costs between the studio and the renaissance…and doesn't need a computer. Only downside…4 outs, so getting multitracks out of it would take more time.

I'm really not sure what they were thinking.
