Building the impossible DJ deckstand (FINISHED)

A few of you may be aware of this project as i started it here then it got deleted then i started it again at djtt and now im back at djf

    i want to build this:

I have never made anything like this before and have little woodworking skills but im up for a challenge. will update with pictures of my progress shortly.

here is one of the legs using 1"mdf and using biscuits/glue to join it all together.

then i laminated a block of four bits of mdf to give me a thickness for a 6" leg. glued and clamped.

here is the initial drawing i made when i thought up doing this.

Here is the lovely piece of wood i have to get a smooooth curve on

Here is one of the finished legs

And this is the top. clamped and waiting for the glue to dry, and my bike.

Anyways back to the project in hand, having both legs made, pva glued and sanded. i start on building the top. some more photos of the tulip wood being glued and biscuit jointed to the 1" MDF top.

also routed out a hole to run the cables of the decks and mixer through. And if it all lines up they should run down the leg. i also need to cut a slot in the bottom of one leg so the cables can come out.

    Updated Pictures

glued and clamped side pieces on

cut holes for easy access to turntables and mixer from the bottom

cut a slot in the top side piece for the knobs of the xone

Just checking to make sure my measurements where correct and the turntables fit.

This is what its going to look like when i fix the legs to the top

    More photos i have found

The Project has been slowing down due to the run up of christmas. but this is where i am at now.

having glued the legs to the top and bolted it with m12 coach screws, i think this should hold it!!!!!

    A few more photos,

i had trouble getting the mixer in with all the wiring plugged in so had to router out a bit more of the top so i can get my hand up the back when the mixers in position

I used a router to cut a slot for the cables to come out of the leg

DONE IT EVENTUALLY!!!! HERE IS THE FINISHED ARTICLE

Had a house party saturday, and my first mix. it was amazing

it did take a lot of time to build but was worth it. a few people have said they want me to build another one for their own gear but to be honest the time it took would make it way too expensive to re-create for some one else to buy.

when i get it in my dj room and all setup i will update some new pics
