    Ecler! Ecler! Ecler!

Looks like the DJ division of Ecler is being resurrected and will be unveiling a new mixer next year.

Ecler, a Spanish pro audio company with a long history of making DJ mixers, has been out of the DJ products game for the last decade. But today a new video cropped up – a highlight reel of their historical reputation, if you will – that announces their big news: Ecler’s DJ division will return in February 2022 with a new DJ mixer.

Ecler always had decent products. They also had a mystique about them.

    I have 2 Ecler mixers.

I only have good things to say.

In fact I wouldn't have got into them unless one of the old admins on this forum used to work for Ecler and mentioned them on this site.
bored, curious, deaf or just bad taste in music?
    finally a mix by me
and what's this, another shoddy mix...another dull mix

I had two, I lent one to my friend more or less permanently.
And the other one, I used to bring out with my sound system for parties but after a while too many DJ's complained because it wasn't Pioneer.. so I eventually got a DJM800 and I still have the Elcer.. it was just getting wear on it bringing it to parties, I want it to last a good long time. But it's sad because many of the DJ's loved playing on it and only a few complained. But the squeaky wheels get the grease I guess.

    Bump with a pic:

Looks like a 2/3 channel Nuo 2.0 with rotary and master isolator sans a crossfader.

That looks pretty nice But for my 2 cents filters would have been much cooler than a master isolator, you already have an isolator on each channel. When Rane did the MP2014 they had a similar setup to this, but they put frequency sweeps on the master isolator so you could actually do things with the master that you could not do with the channels.

All that said, I'm glad Ecler is staying in the game, even though this mixer is really not for me. The regular old Nuo does everything this does...

My partners/friends and I are planning to distribute/deal this mixer. We had a Zoom meeting with Jan (tech rep of Ecler Spain) just last week. I'm pretty much excited about this one because since July 2020, we have distributed the TRM series of Omnitronic. TRM202mk3 and TRM402mk3 as well as their gnome pocket mixers. Sales have been good and we have sold more than 2 dozens of 2-channel and 11 units of 4-channel TRMs and more than a dozen of Gnomes during this pandemic.

The TRMs are nice affordable rotary mixers. Premium feel at a budget. But this Warm2 looks promising in the rotary market. Premium and reputable brand at a reasonable price. Rane, Master Sounds, and other high end rotary mixers are great but they're just too expensive.

As an owner of Nuo4, I', very happy about it. It's my main DJ mixer at home. I have also used the Nuo2, 3, 5 , Evo 4 & 5 back from 2006 - 2010 when we sold the brand here. My only gripe with the Nuo series is the low headroom. With the gains and master at 12 o'clock, the LED meters go on double/triple red (almost at peak) but the sound level is still low. There's no distortion but those red lines really bother me (haha!). To solve this, I have used a small board mixer (Yamaha MG6x) to control main outs without pushing the Nuo's master's meters reaching the red line constantly.

    That's great Nicadraus, super cool.

In case you haven't noticed over the years I'm very gung ho on Elcer, I've had a Nuo 2 & 4 (one gave to my close friend he still uses it, other sold to another friend), Nuo 4.0 still have and a Mac 70i I still have. Anything that keeps Ecler in the DJ field is aok by me, even if, as I said, this mixer is not targeted to me.

Since you are talking to them I'll say a few words about the gain structure.. fwiw...
Ecler is the ONLY mixer I have played on that has the gain set up correctly, that is to say, when you have got the channel trimmed to peak at 0dB, or +2dB.. whatever you decide your reference will be.. I generally choose +2 because it's easier to see.. then, when you bring the channel fader to the top, your master will be at the same level.. +2 in this case. That is to say, the top of the channel fader is unity gain. (obviously what the meters indicate and the actual mix buss levels vs master levels may vary since there could be gain after the mix buss, but that is not my point here). This was a VERY GOOD DESIGN and should never change, it's absolutely fantastic to have these match and it should never change, ever. The thing that makes Ecler different from many (eg. Pioneer being the first to come to mind of course) is that the master meter as well as headphone mix is PRE master, and that is also VERY GOOD DESIGN, you don't want that in a live sound mixer but in a DJ mixer you absolutely do.. so again, something that should NEVER CHANGE. Other mixers continue to get this wrong, why I do not know.

But so far as headroom.. yes, absolutely having compared the Nuo to for example a Xone 62 which I have, when pushed the Ecler definitely distorts a bit, it is not unpleasant but it's not good either. But the xone does not. It's not a problem if the levels are kept even remotely reasonable but a bit more headroom would def be welcome.

Good points and I now realized what you exactly mean.
