Cool. Thank you for the information and all your help.
I'm starting to figure out the menu a bit. I set them up in sound
Mode, and they did well. I just hadto adjust sound sensitivity.
    Thanks again.

Conanski.....hey, how are you? Well i ended up getting the chauvet obay 10.
I read the manual and tried to find some online videos, and have to say, this
Programming is quite tricky. I've seen videos of the off-brands similar to what i have. Most have the "scene"
Buttons on the top of faders and find them easier then what i have.
I'll have to keep on trying.

Using a controller really illustrates how basic running lights on a controller really is.

You have to program every step.

I have both an Obey 50, and the Chinese knock off of it, both are similar from a programming perspective.

IMO a controller is really most useful for static scenes with wash lights, not saying you can't build complex shows, it just takes an inordinate amount of time to do so.

I would strongly suggest you set your sights on moving to software for you lights, there are quite a few options, I've moved from MyDMX 3.0 to Sound Switch. Sound Switch has an initial learning curve, but I find it well worth the effort.

This is our Halloween show in our driveway using Sound Switch.

Summ, thanks for the reply. I tried to open your video but didn't work. I did find some videos on sound switch. It seems like a pretty intuitive software. I'm thinking the the controller i have is for very basic " static" scenes, as you mentioned, and in watching some more controller videos (like the one i have) is quite laborious. To be honest, i find these light i have to work very well in sound mode together (master/slave).
Are there any physical controllers that are easier, more well laid out, without having to switch through "pages" to get to the color/pattern quicker? I guess it would be through bigger controllers?

No, it's still a DMX console, just has wireless to communicate with your lights instead of cables.

If you like your lights in sound active mode then you might use the console for some static scenes, then have a scene that sets them to sound active.

I've spent cubic hours programming on a console, it was mainly for me as most people didn't care.

Summ.... wow, cool video! I like the light setup. So is pretty easy to make patterns and chases with the software?

Yes, if I want a chase for the uplights, I select them, and the portion of the song I want them to run on. Then I select the type of chase I want, and the time(1/8, 1/4, etc) and drag and drop the chase onto the selected fixtures and it builds the chase for me. You can select the color track for the same fixtures and drag a color selection like RGB onto them as well and it will build the colors out.

It takes a little work to get to know the software but once you do, it is well worth it.

Full disclosure, I had the Starball and Swarm in that video running in sound active mode for that portion of the song, it's just much easier than trying to set all of the que points to make all of that happen.

Wow! Cool setup. That program sounds interesting, and kind of what i was thinking...that it would be smart enough to be in sync with the beat of the music. So if the lights are going along with a song and all pf a sudden it cuts to another song but with a quicker tempo, does it detect it and change speed to go with the song?
I will try once more to work with the controller i have but i can see now that it takes time.
I'm impressed at how these basic spider lights do a great job at moving with the beat of the music, quite intuitive.
