technics sl 1210 mk2 and behringer mixer djx900usb GAIN/Meters always in red

hello hope somebody knows this issue
my 2 technics very old (25 years) work perfect
but with my new mixer behringer djx900usb as soon i start playing a track the meter on that channel goes up right to the top and all red.
it sounds ok on the speakers and i can mix etc... but it should not be like that i assume
by the way i am a hobbiest only mixing for myself.
even when i turn the GAIN button right down to 0 it still shows on the meter in the red, a bit less but still high and a bit in the red.
i attached 2 pictures to show what i mean.
the way i used to mix is having all 4 adjusters as low - mid - high - gain around showing upwards like a 1, i think everybody mixes like this.
so if i try to record anything it comes far too strong and the recording is actually not possible.
    please see the pictures
thanks for any help - tip...

looks like i can only upload 1 pic, it shows the one with the gain right down to 0 and meter is already in the red zone, as soon i turn the gain a bit up it jumps right up to the top....

Is it the same on all channels (when you plug the deck into another channel on the mixer) ?
[step one of trouble shooting this issue]
bored, curious, deaf or just bad taste in music?
    finally a mix by me
and what's this, another shoddy mix...another dull mix

See if the FX are on. Or that XPQ thing. Turn them off.
