    Yamaha AG06 Question

    Hi,
Looking for some advice regarding the Yamaha AG06. So basically I am wanting to live stream a DJ set on Facebook Live using my IPhone 7 to do this. I have a laptop connected to my Pioneer DDJ-SB3 DJ controller. The controller has only one output (master RCA). So I am wanting to connect my controller to the Yamaha mixer and then from the Yamaha to my phone and also to my speakers so I can obviously hear what I’m doing. Is this even possible on the Yamaha or do I need something else? Cheers.

there's been a load of DJs looking to get online during the lockdown using their phones.

while this is possible, you probably won't get the best result. (and even the pros are putting out some terrible streams these days...)

try to find an old computer in the house and use that to handle your streaming, while your main computer handles your mixing. (you could even just do this all on one computer, but it will need some fiddling with soundcard routing and will force the computer to be doing many similiar processes at the same time, possibly leading to stutters).

audio-wise a 2nd computer will probably do stereo (something that a phone can't do without a lot of messing about, and probably investing in phone peripherals that are expensive and rubbish).

back in the day we used to used webcams, which these days are super cheap, to handle the video. the audio routed through the computer.

    as for handling your outputs...
if you only have one output ... well then you will need two outputs. One to your speakers and one to your online stream. If you have an old amp or mixer around the house, this could do the job. Otherwise you are looking at routing the sound through the stream and out again to your speakers. Hardly ideal. Same as using RCA Y splitters to double your output.

You could invest in a mixer that has booth, master and record output. But that is an investment you may not want to do.
bored, curious, deaf or just bad taste in music?
    finally a mix by me
and what's this, another shoddy mix...another dull mix

Yamaha AG06 question about live streaming a DJ set

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I was under the impression after viewing videos online that an audio interface is all that would be needed. The Roland Go Pro mixer was the one I was considering but nowhere has any stock until June. So I came across the Yamaha which seems to be very similar. The videos I’ve seen for the Roland Go Pro, they are pretty straight forward and say that you come out of the controller into the Roland and from the Roland into the phone with a separate out into the speakers. Makes sense to me.

I was considering buying a DDJ SR2 controller as this has a booth out and from what I understand you can come out of the controller booth out into your phone and control the live stream volume with the booth volume control and just run the speakers through the master out as usual. This may easier than messing around with the interface units.

    Cheers.
