Question How to connect a Sub-Woofer to my set up. Please help 😛

    Hi all,

I'm a beginner DJ using a Pioneer DDJ-200 connected to Numark 580l monitor speakers through my laptop. I want to connect my Miller & Kreisell VX-100 Sub-woofer into the set-up but I'm not sure how to.

Do I need to buy a crossover box of some sort? The Numark 580l's have very limited outputs. Please help! Thanks

    X 😘

cheapest way is a soundcard from your Pc with dual outputs, one to go to your speakers, other to your sub. then get some software to handle the soundcard that can crossover the frequencies.

Simply run a cable between the master monitor speaker and the sub... a 1/4 to RCA cable should do it.

Sub and monitors only have inputs at line level - since the 2nd speaker doesn't have a power input I'm guessing the speaker output on the first monitor isn't line level.

If I'm right if he did connect his sub to this output it could blow his sub. Please be careful.

Yes I guess this should be spelled out.. do not connect the sub to the speaker out on the powered monitor. That is where the second monitor is connected anyway so hopefully the OP would not make that mistake. The powered monitor also has both RCA and 1/4" input jacks which are going to be just connected together inside creating a convenient Y connection point where the sub can be tied in, no need for anything else to make it work.

    Thanks for the response!
So just to confirm, running 1/4"s from the 'input L and R' of my monitor speaker to the 'RCA L and R inputs' of the sub should do it?

    Thanks again

Yes, just "Y" the line level output from the computer that feeds the speakers. Assume the sub has two inputs and does the L&L sum internally?
