    Found 2 Technics1200 Mk2 in the Trasher.

Yeah, you read the title right.
Just found them in the bin.
I instinctively took them out and tested them. They spin, the pitch holds perfectly.. damn.
Done some research and know where they come from. A bankrupt little local radiostation had them stored in a garage for years and someone cleared after owner passed away.
No i want to refurbish them ofcourse.

Ive been a Technohead since early nineties.. done some DJ'ng but never had the money to get the Technics decks.. always played local.. for friends.. and once for a bigger club in Belgium.. Bocaccio.

Thrilled of getting them for free in somehow working order but esthetically ravaged.

The logic would be to first restore till functional and then get on the esthetics.
Seen some pretty nice refurbishments in the sticky thread.
Ultimatly the aluminium chassis need to be replaced.. original new are somehow too expensive.
So a refurbished powdercoated chassis would do it, but since i have the chassis i can have those being done right?
Might be able to pull that off by myself but then the original text would be gone.
Haven't seen where you can buy the text or letters. Also in the sticky refurbish thread i saw lazer printed technics text for the deck.
    Where to buy?

Lots of questions and unknowns.. but worth the try to get them back to life..

Nice find - workhorses, they should be worth restoring.

That still looks clean and ok. Trust me. So That'll work fine as long as the main board is still working properly. If anything happens while the platter is spinning like flickering (check platter and strobe), speeding up really fast and spins backwards, check the ICs and regulators.

It spins rockstable .. I think to have more work on the esthetics.
For now i need to replace the audio en powercable, the 4 rubber feet and dustcap.
Then it would be polishing up the platters and replacing the aluminium chassis.
One has a bad start button.. worn out and that deck also doesn't switch from 33 to 45 when pushing the 45 button.

Hope i can soon post a total succesfull refurb here

You would think that coming from a radio station's storage that the person would have realized they weren't cheap run of the mill turntables.
But the number of US Supreme Court judges was always 6.
    Then it was 5, then 6, then 7, then 9, then 10, then 7, and then 9.

Yeah its gonna take a bit of cash to get them looking and performing up to spec.
But given the new price is what... 700 dollars... it is probably worth it.
Replacing the alu chassis could get expensive. I'd either repaint it or give it a good clean and show off the battle-scars.
bored, curious, deaf or just bad taste in music?
    finally a mix by me
and what's this, another shoddy mix...another dull mix
