    Namm 2020

Another year of NAMM is about to kick off this week and InMusic has already dropped a few gems from Denon and Numark.

    Denon DJ SC6000 and SC6000M:

I'm really liking the re-designed platter for the M version:

And finally from Denon (so far) the Prime Go. A full featured controller with built in 7" touch screen and rechargeable battery:

Numark also released an update to its DJ2GO, the DJ2GO2 with capacitive jog wheels:

For 80 bucks I'm kinda tempted.

Post up your thoughts and any other Namm info here.

I think it's highway robbery that they charge you an extra $200 for the spinning platter.
But the number of US Supreme Court judges was always 6.
    Then it was 5, then 6, then 7, then 9, then 10, then 7, and then 9.

    .
It is cute but why even bother with the mini platters. A slightly smaller assignable knob would have been perfect.

Because people are used to using the track nudge & pitch bend is on a jog wheel.

right, on a wheel that small makes no sense. Would be a pain getting the sensitivity just right. Push button is more effective for that function and would probably more accurate. I no longer use my platters for anything - I no longer play hip hop so that has a lot to do with it.

Two buttons for pitch bending and a knob for tack nudging is less attractive than a small jog wheel.

Marketing is why phono carts have such a wide tracking range despite records being designed to be played at 4.5 grams.
If a cart says 3 to 5 grams, 3g is from the marketing department and 5g is from the engineering department.

I got to give it to Rek on this one Windows.

As cool as it may be to have mini jog wheels on this device, nudge buttons would be more appropriate. Heck, even on both my Denon CD players which have motorized platters, I use the buttons. I very rarely touch the "record".

Also, the space for the job wheels could have instead been used for 3 EQ knobs which the DJ2GO lacks. I would much prefer that over the wheel which is more or less a novelty.

All that being said, this is a big seller for Numark and for a mere $80 I can look past the shortcomings for a neat little toy that I can DJ almost anywhere with.

It's a toy and as a toy kids are going to think they can do some cool wiki-wiki-wiki sounds with those tiny jog wheels.

A professional should buy professional gear. The Denon DJ PRIME GO is a professional grade compact controller.
