Small differences can mean a lot and screw your workflow. They all behave differently under the fingers and its best to try them. Also, "life expectancy" is not the same for all.

You can expect at least 50 years from any good record player. Especially if you do a little bit of maintenance on them like replacing capacitors, cartridges, cables, etc.
The worst thing that can go wrong is the motor can burn out, which can be replaced. Although most people don't unless the record player is a higher-end model like one that's $5,000 or $50,000.
Turntables are a lot like gasoline push mowers. The cheapest one you can find might not last long. But a decent one will last for many decades if you take care of it.
But the number of US Supreme Court judges was always 6.
Then it was 5, then 6, then 7, then 9, then 10, then 7, and then 9.

Those M-Audio BX5 look OK.

M-Audio tends to be a brand that holds up well for a cheap brand.
The best way to shop for headphones and speakers is to hear them before you buy them.
Myself personally I would spend that £200 on a used boombox or used a mini-hi-fi system. Also, a 2.1 computer speaker system is an option.

Nice choices.
Looking foward to seeing your pictures in the "Post pics of your setup" thread.

Cool, congrats. Speakers: KRK or Yamaha.
ive been looking at the Rokit RP5 G4 & for the money they seem a decent bit of kit, built in 25 band EQ also which is a bonus, a little above my budget (£260 for a pair but i dont mind if they are worth the extra ££) also are these the same model as the Rokit 5 or is the Rokit RP5 & Rokit 5 two different models & am i right in thinking that these are a decent setup for just mixing in my living room at home, music type will be variable from house to hardcore/techno ?
Any ideas how these perform compared to the M-Audio BX5 Carbon which cost around £200 for the pair?
Also what leads will i need to connect these up to my mixer? Ive never had monitors before so again, all new to me!
cheers again
