Elviejoboy, it doesn’t really work like that. One wedding playlist will likely differ greatly from that of almost any other wedding. A good wedding DJ will talk to the wedding couple and find out what kind of music they like, and what they don’t like. First dance tracks, father/daughter dances, and other special dances will usually be very personal choices... not the DJ’s. When you get past all the ceremonial parts, you might be able to use some kind of reusable playlist, but it’s not very likely. The tastes of the brides and grooms vary so much, and the guest’s tastes and ages have an impact as well. If weddings were cookie-cutter and easy, everybody would be doing them.

I started to say this very thing this morning, but I said no, I'll wait for Bobcat to type it all out nice & professional, then I'll just agree with his post.

    I appreciate ur response.

I just want some idea of what to play during dinner and such before the real party start. I'm doing this for a friend and since English is not my first language there might be a lot good wedding music I'm probably missing that should've been play that night. Thanks in advance

That's already been explained to you in the above. It is not a one playlist fits all.

The last time a friend asked me to do his wedding, we worked out what they wanted to hear, and what the guests wanted to hear. This is something we can't do for you, because we do not know your friends.

Your question can easily be answered otherwise, using google:

Seriously, no one is beating you up here or trying to dismiss your question. I'll add a little further. A wedding is a little different from a club. People go to a club for the specific music (House, Pop, Rap, Hip Hop, Underground) that they play there. With a wedding, all sorts of people show up for the event... not specifically for the music or genre of music. As a DJ, you'll be playing for a variety of people who enjoy a variety of genres.

Normally, you need to get with the event host (bride & groom in this case) & ask them what music they like & to also think about their guest. Because the ages & backgrounds of every guest is different, its usually best to play a variety of music. However, there are some genres that they will want you to focus on more than others & some, maybe not at all.

I might play a wedding on Friday & they'll want me to focus mostly on Country music. Maybe on either old or new Country. Saturday night, I may play a wedding where they insist that I not play any Country. They may want to focus mainly on Hip Hop along with some Pop.

Then next week they may want old 60's - 70's Motown, R&B & into new RnB.

Some may want a variety of all of the above plus some other genres & era's.

Every private event like a wedding is completely different from a club. Just get with the bride & groom & ask them to give you a list of the music that they would like at their wedding.

Oh & normally, I suggest that they stick with the same music, but slower for the dinner music. If they want Country music, then just play some slower Country love songs etc. However, Jazz or instrumental etc are sometimes good choices for dinner....... but not always. Personally, I wouldnt choose to have Jazz for my dinner music, but some do. Just ask the client what they want for their specific event.

    Good luck.

You don’t provide much information for us to help you. What kind of DJ are you, and how many events have you done? What is your DJ style? It makes a difference. If you are the type of DJ who does a lot of mixing of short cuts, your playlist will be much different than one from a DJ who plays entire tracks.

I don’t do many weddings myself because I’m old.😄 Young brides don’t need to have an old grandpa DJing their wedding. Besides, I really don’t care for a lot of the music young couples like today. However, I know DJ’s who do weddings. Here’s a sample playlist from a very popular DJ in the northeast, but plays in many states in the eastern USA...

... DJ Taso (giving credit to the playlist creator) is a DJ who does a lot of mixing, so this is a very long playlist. The numbers beside the track titles are BPM. DJ Taso’s rates for weddings are in the $3000+ range, and I think he does at least 30 of them a year. I think this playlist was from April 2019, so you can see that not all the tracks are current. Some couples might prefer many more current tracks.

I hope this gives you some ideas, but it was tailored for a specific couple, so not something you could reuse for another random couple.

    Good luck.😊

As far as a "dinner mix" for a "typical" US wedding, I would say classic and modern love songs during guest arrival, cocktail hour, and dinner. Michael Bublé, Frank Sinatra, Ed Sheeran, John Legend, Sam Smith, Tony Bennett, Dan and Shay, Blake Shelton, Al Green, Florida Georgia Line, etc., etc.

    Good luck!
