    Beginner DJ looking for advice!

    Hello all!
I just started to learn how to DJ this week and would like to have it as a hobby and maybe something I could do during very informal occasions like a family gathering. I don't plan to go big or do any formal performances. I also have a musical background as a musician (ten years) if that changes anything.

At the moment, I am using Virtual DJ without a controller and it feels very limiting. I plan to get a controller during Christmas so currently I am trying to learn whatever I can. What are the fundamental skills/techniques every DJ should learn? How much can I learn without a controller?

I will take any advice or recommendations you have! Thanks!

    YouTube "How To DJ".
It used to be there were just two or three channels that were good at tutoring, but now there are a plethora of them.

I just did a YouTube search and didn't see anybody I recognized from the past. (Except Qbert.)
But I did see this guy's video. So I suspect his channel might be a good place to start.

But the number of US Supreme Court judges was always 6.
    Then it was 5, then 6, then 7, then 9, then 10, then 7, and then 9.

Besides videos I recommend reading How To DJ Right by Frank Broughton and Bill Brewster.
