How to choose a DSP Crossover...

So, I'm in the process of building my first sound system.

I'm starting out with 4-6 18" bass bins, and 4-6 tops (and maybe 4-6 kicks).

To drive them I'm looking at LabGruppen FP10.000 (3 of those)...

Now, I will also need a DSP Crossover... I've been looking around and I have really no idea what to choose. Some are expensive some are cheaper.

Is it worth it spending more money on a DSP compared to a cheaper one? What do I get with 1500 USD one that I'm not getting with say an 800 USD one?

Also, would you recommend getting a graphic EQ as well for the rack?

    Any advice appreciated

Have you checked DBX Driverack yet? I use Driveracks in my installations (clubs/bars/restos) and in my rental set ups as well. I use them with either powered/active speakers without built-in DSP or passive speakers with separate amps. You could do so much with it. There are many models to choose from too depending on your application. For your requirements, you can get the PA2 or find a used PA+. I have a PA+ and a PX (especially made for powered speakers). You can set EQ (parametric or graphic), x-over, limiter, delay, feedback destroyer, sub-harmonic freq adjustments, and so much more.

You should look at DSP equipped amplifiers.

Because you get DSP that is designed to work with the amplifiers and because in this case it will be very high quality processing, you would have to spend several thousand dollars on a separate processor to get the same level of quality and performance.

Can you give me some pointers on what amplifiers to look for?

4-6 18" bass speakers (loaded with PD 1850)

    4-6 Kicks bins
