Ok.... I ordered a pair the Musonic whitelabel replacements directly from Musonic (WestendDJ doesn't ship to the US) last Thursday. They arrived today.

Strangely, they don't really look the same (or even the same color) - so if that is something that bothers you, now you know. But they do match tonally. I a/b'd back and forth on my mixer with doubles of a few different records (old & new / different styles / bass heavy / not so bass heavy) and they match with my standard whitelabel stylus. They do sound good.

Now for the bad. I play vinyl primarily & there does seem to be around a 2db difference in output between these and the originals.
If you are all Serato or whatever, it doesn't make a difference at all.
If you are playing 12inches your fine (the cuts are so hot that the 2db wont matter & you won't even really notice the gain is just a touch up).
But, if you are playing album cuts (and 12inches) in your set, you may have to adjust the way you gainstage your set.
I'm on an A&H Xone w/ 12's and the few album cuts I tested just barely kiss "0" at full gain. Album cuts are always much lower anyway, but it's still something to keep in mind.

Obviously, I can't really speak for how long they'll last or whatever- but they seem to be built fine.
Tbh I'm going to order myself a stash of these later this week. I like Whitelabels alot & these Musonics seem to work fine for the way I play.

Oh yeah, here's the link to Musonic:

A pair of the shipped to the US was $67.

I really appreciate that write-up, scottslagle!

It's too bad they make an otherwise beautiful cart butt ugly .

Holy crap! Thx for posting this.

I read somewhere that Jico was not going be doing replacements for the Whitelabels any time soon. Looks like they got enough requests that they couldn't pass it up anymore.

The Ortofon VNL is a great option, suitable even for portable devices!
