    Charge clients a tax rate?

Do you guys do this? Currently I do not, so I just eat it when it comes to what I claim at the end of the year.

This varies by state, but most states do not charge sales tax for service based industries. DJ's qualify as a service.

Do your research though, as tax law can be pretty vague and complex. Reach out to a pro if you have to.
