    Replacement DJ Carts

Ok so I haven't been on this forum for a couple of years but have still been mixing.

I want to know what carts other DJs would recommend on here for DJing. We were using shures and then DTR had this wonderful idea of getting audio technicas which are absolutely rubbish for DJing and so am looking to buy my own carts.

It seems Shure and Stanton no longer make any carts so am wondering what the current favourite now is.

    Thank you

    Ortofon.
They recently updated their concordes after over 20 years (so the old stylii won't work on the new ones).
Get the cheaper headshell mount ones. They give the same sound and won't have snap-off cartridge arms.
bored, curious, deaf or just bad taste in music?
    finally a mix by me
and what's this, another shoddy mix...another dull mix

Well I'm thinking of getting the OM pro S ones. Any opinions on them?

Tried some of those in live gig conditions. The tracking held perfectly, but I'm afraid I can't comment on the sound quality, being a gig

While I agree that Ortofons are the only real player left in the DJ cart game, there is (sort of) another option.

Jico makes and sells their own replacement styli for the Shure M44-7 / G. So if you dont mind buying used M44 carts, you'd still be able to buy replacement styli for them.

Apparently they're quite good and affordable as well. Mojax from DJ City UK did a review on them and was quite impressed.

Yup Jico is a good replacement. Price is just right. I have tried using the KF1. Sound output wasn't as loud as the original 447, but who can complain? At least someone out there considered in making replacements so that our beloved carts won't be put to junk. I actually ordered the glow in the dark N447 Club Improved stylus. Will do a review once I get them.

Good to her you like them Nica. Now if they'd only make replacements for Whitelables....

    hey folks,

my last pair of shure replacement needles is in use now, which means i now either need a new pair of cartridges or some needles to fit on my M35X. all i have seen are shure SS35C needles, there a lot of aftermarket versions of them here in germany. but they track at 4-5g, which is a bit heavy i think. then there is jico offering the M44-7X, but shipping from japan is quiet expensive and stuff...

    so the questions are:
    1. does anyone know a shop in europe that sells jico needles (except thakker.eu, the only offer the SC35C)
    2. buying new cartridges? if so, i would either go for the ortofon mix mk2 (low price) or the scratch mk2 (nice high output)
    3. any other suggestions? any experience on aftermarket styli? will they do the job at all?

actually, i prefer headshells, but there are no real options left except the new audio technica AT-XP3 (reviews are not really good)

I really loved my M35X and now the decision is so hard
