For those of you who majored in music production, how was it? Would you recommend it?

I've read about the music production programs at many colleges, as I am going to be applying soon-ish, so my question is the title. Would you recommend pursuing a music production major? Do you regret it and wish you only pursued it as a hobby? I'd like to hear as many POV's as I can get!
Also those of you who have majored in something else, but still pursue music/sound engineering as a career. Not really trying to "make it" as a stage performer.
