    Thanks.
    Unforgiving, unrelenting, unrecoverable double beats!

there are lots of turntablists who can rock a dancefloor - QBert & Jon1st totally kill it.

There will always be the head-nodders round the decks, and more recently the camera-phones, but don't assume turntablist nights are stuffy, academic affairs; some of my fave memories on the dancefloor concern turntablists!

    ^ What he said ^

Get you a DJ that can do both OP. Check out the entire Beat Junkie crew(especially J Rocc and Melo D), Miles Medina, Jazzy Jeff, A-Trak, Skratch Bastid, on and on. There are ton of DJ’s that are awesome turntablists that can rock dance floors.

Turntabilists are the grandmaster ninja's of dj'ing. It's a dying art and it takes years of practice and devotion to have those black belt skills.

Of course serrato makes things a bit easier these days too.

    Turntablists started off mixing.

    Learn your history.

All the OG turntablists started off in Mobile DJ crews doing garage parties, weddings, etc etc and then scratch at the end when the party was over and other crew members started packing shit up.

A DJ plays a set of songs, mixing them together for live performance or recording. A turntablist uses scratching and manipulation of sounds and samples heavily to create a short composition that is as much an original creation as the sounds and beats that the composition is based on. What then, if you happen to do both? I know quite a few people who can do extended length mixes including that include scratching and live sampling, etc.
