    Learning from the BEST!!

Hey guys hope everyone is well

I'm learning a lot just by simply watching DJ's mix on YouTube, however a lot of the time the camera is always panning out to the crowd and I never get a full insight into the technique.

Has anyone got any sets available on YouTube where they have picked up any techniques just through watching and the camera focuses mainly on the mixer.

All help is highly appreciated. Hit me up!!!

Yes. Most of Mark Jones mixes have a clear shot of the mixer. IMO, his mixing is quite good and he uses the effects well.

You can also check out Boiler Room. Some of the vids have overhead shots of the mixer.

Don't over watch. Learn in the doing. I fell into this problem with studio production. No amount of watching someone ride a bike will enable you to ride it. When we ride a bike we don't even know how we are riding it, as in the specifics, it just flows naturally from the practice in doing.

No harm in watching a few bits for inspiration but it can fast become a trap where all you do is watch!

I've seen & heard him play live twice. One of the best DJs in terms of technical mixing skills with on-the-fly remixes.. Very clean sets too.

I would also add record everything you mix and listen to it. Look for what works and what doesn't.
