Something I've never seen before in all my 16 years as a mobile DJ

I got my music planner back today from a bride for her wedding next month. During the ceremony, some people pour sand from two containers into one container , some people tie a knot in a rope, some people light one candle with a candle each, etc, etc. But this bride & groom are washing each others feet... during the ceremony. That's a new one on me. So, I Googled it & did a bit of research. Apparently, this is performed at Christian weddings as a symbol of their submittance to each other. Jesus Christ washed his 12 disciples feet as a gesture of submitting to them.
In further research, a pan or pale of water and a couple of towels are prepared before the ceremony. The bride & groom remove each others shoes & socks etc & wash each others feet, then obviously dry with the towels. I'm not sure if they typically replace the socks & shoes before continuing with the ceremony or finish it barefooted.

Its a new new for me so, just wondering... anyone else ever seen this?

Dix, you probably haven't seen this because this might be performed in the wedding as opposed to where you perform.

I could be wrong. I'm curious about what you saw. Was anyone freaked out by the washing?

It hasnt happened yet. Its for a wedding next month. I'd say that I perform 75% of the ceremonies along with the receptions I play. So, I do see most ceremonies.

Just to be clear, I am not putting these people down, I am just wondering if this is a regional or cultural thing. It maybe popular with some but I dont think it is around here. But as JGeffen said, people come up with all sorts of things.
When I googled it, there was a decent amount of info & conversation about it. So, it must be common somewhere.....

In the northeast/New England, it seems common to have the wedding in one venue (i.e. church) and the reception in another (i.e. country club). I assumed that it would be that way elsewhere, so I reasoned that maybe you didn't see this because you weren't at the wedding... Except you are at the wedding...

    I got nothin'.

    DJF is the best. REP!

Dix, you have to play this when they do the washing-of-the-feet thing!

Dix, thats a red flag! Play CLEAN versions and stay away from BOOTIE, BUTT or SEX songs (which is almost everything)
