How can I improve my turntables?

    Hi everyone

I have a pair of Numark direct drive TT1625 turntables.

I know these are fairly low-end turntables. However, is there any way I can improve their performance, either through modifying their mechanisms, buying better parts for it, changing anything...?

I know this is a vague question, but I'd like to get as much out of them as possible!

    Cheers,,

Sorry to say this but that's just about it for the TT1625. No way of improving it.

Instead of spending trying to improve the TT1625, better save up and get a used pair of Technics 1200, Stanton ST/STR-100/150 or Numark TTX.

Nicadrus got it covered. Just enjoy them as much as you can for now, and when the time comes you can upgrade to any of the models that he suggested.
Everybody is going to have an opinion.
Just do your thing to the best of your ability and have fun with it.

you can always use the wax paper disc under the slipmat as a cheap way to make the platter a little slippier for cueing, its a minor help but a help all the same

As Marc said, wax paper or use a plastic record sleeve.

The only thing I would buy is a good pair carts.

    Shure M35X
    $40 each

    Shure M44G or Shure M44-7
    $70 each

One positive thing about learning on low torque turntables, is it forces you to be light handed.

No offence bro, but the only diy you can do to improve you're tables, is to buy a hammer and start smashing it

seriously that's what i did when i had the numark 1625

You can improve your turntables by buying a pair of Technics 1200s or 1210s.

Very true. If you step up to 1200's the transition should not be problematic. It'll be like taking the training weights off.

    Great first post

Don't bother putting any money into those. Not worth it. They're fine as-is for learning.

Not true. If you upgrade the carts, you can transfer those carts to another pair of turntables.
