most DJs here have resorted to piracy for one reason or another. It may not be legal, but some find it acceptable.

however, downloading pirated tracks, for FREE, and then RESELLING them is simply outrageous! he should be reported to the RIAA.

It would be so much fun if you call the cops and set up a trap for him.

If you ignore the fact that most of it is probably illegal, I don't think there's anything wrong with it necessarily.

However, because I dig for my tracks, I take pride in my collection for having tracks that many don't play, and because all the music I find is something I like.

    actually i do

i would say that a DJ is doing himself no favours by aquiring 5 terrabites of music, attempting to get to know even a tiny fraction of that music would literally take years and be more of a hinderance to your creativity than anything else.

its not what you have on your hard drive that counts its what you have in your head, your better off building YOUR OWN music collection , song by song, day by day, its the only way to do it

honestly who cares if you have a billion terrabites of mp3? its what you can do that counts

oh you mean those "DJs " who love music so much that they dont want to pay for it but at the same time expect people to pay to hear them?

    LOL

Such a bad idea Mate.. dont do it.

A HD full of crappy quality mp3's? What a waste of time. Anyone would regret it.

A point thats been said here already is about the amount of tunes on it that are shit. The odds are stacked against ya when its that bloody size.. shit, I dont even think I could list 300 tunes in the genre I like that I would want to get. I also would never have time to listen to them all in one sitting. Such a waste really. Besides - how up to date would they be? You will have ALL genres too. 99.9% of it will be rubbish.

They are definitely not legit. Can you imagine how much the contents of that HD would cost in the real world. Forget about it.

Its been said already and is worth repeating:

Spend some time building up your collection. Get to know your music. Develop your skills as a DJ

Just wait for the next Bieber album. The 5TB of tracks won't have it.

5TB is a ridiculous amount of music, even if it's all uncompressed WAV files.

I would buy a record collection if I knew it contained a good bunch of tracks that I'd want, then I could sell off the rest, but I wouldn't buy this for the reasons that everyone else has given.

Its pointless buying someone else music collection as the music every DJ has is different and that's what makes us all unique right? Needless to say it will be poor quality and 100% illegal!
