    Thanks for the input. Pete can't you see in my photo that there are two wires + the ground for each channel? I'm going to play it safe and I've bought a normal van damme phono cable. Cheers for the info.

    Ah, Ok I take it all back.
    The photo looked a bit grainy and I thought they were one cable.

    You could have used it, by soldering those two signal cables together, but probably best to go with some decent RCA specific cable like you have chosen.

    One of those two middle wires were probably ground. Then the shield was also connected to ground.. but only on one end of the cable.. hopefully the end you didn't cut...... That's why you would have needed to test the cable to find out which wire was which. Soldering them both together would not have worked.
